Following the footsteps of Sri VishwaBanduMarulasidda, the contemporary saint of Lord Basaveshwara in 12th Century in Karnataka, who fought against caste oppression, Sri TaralabaluJagadguruBrihan Mutt, Sirigere, has been following the credos of Marulasidda for the past several decades under the guidance of His Holiness Dr ShivamurthyShivacharyaMahaswamiji..

His Holiness Sr Dr. Shivamurthy Shivacharya Mahaswamijiis the Jagadguru of Sri Taralabalu Jagadguru Brihanmutt, Sirigere founded the Anubhavamantapa School in the year 1980 with the great vision to impart education based on moral and ethical values.Anubhavamantapa. It has evolved now intoa educational hub for more than four thousand childrenwho study here from Nursery to Class 12.

Swamiji did his Ph.D. from Banaras Hindu University and Post-doctoral Studies at the Indological Institute of the University of Vienna, Austria. Swamiji has interest in different fields like Spiritual, Academic, Research, Peace & Harmony, Social Service & Development, rural education, health, agriculture, environment and regional economic development.

His Holiness’s noteworthy contributions are

Education: The Educational Institutions numbering 276 mostly with free food and hostel providing modern and quality education for nearly 50000 students. Sri Taralabalu Jagadguru Education Society has taken initiative in providing education especially for girl child and disadvantage group.

Agriculture: Swamiji is interested to improve the rural livelihood and regional economic development. So Taralabalu Rural Development foundation (TRDF) was established in 1982. Its aim is promoting agricultural practice by organizing workshops and exhibitions. Impressed by Swamiji’s work Indian Council of Agricultural Research (ICAR), Sanctioned a prestigious project-Krishi Vigyan Kendra for farm research and transferring proven crop technologies to the farmers ofDavangere District of Karnataka.

Water Management & Irrigation in Drought Hit Districts :

Under the leadership of Swamiji irrigation Tank Rehabilitation (40 Tanks) projects was successfully implemented. Sujala Watershed Projects was also implemented with the help of World Bank Swamiji’s Active involvement in 22 lift irrigation projects covering 651 irrigation tanks is noteworthy.

Social Service & Other Rural Development Programmes

School children and teachers involved in a programme initiated by Swamiji Taralabalu Seedling Programmes, is an important task under taken in association with the Society for promotion of Wasteland Development..

Some other important works include Medicinal plants conservation park, Gruhini software for women SHGs, Rural Toilets, Garments training centre.

Academic & Literary work:

Innumerable books, articles and news paper columns have been published by Swamiji. He has been invited for talks in National and International Universities and Organizations. Important works are – Religion and Society at Cross Roads. Hindu Vision of Global Peace, Communal Conflicts in India, Hinduism and Harmony, Panini Grammar Software-‘Ganakashtadhyayi’, Ganaka Vachana Samputa of Basavanna etc.

Unique Legal & Court Service: Swamiji holds ‘Saddharma Nyaya Peetha’ on all Mondays, to give a legal solution and adjudicate legal issues of rural people. Most disputes get settled without cost and burden.
